Taller than a house and bigger than a bush, The Green Man, the brainchild of artist Colin Spofforth and at present a rusty brown, patiently waits in the engineering yard of Tom Thwaites Services Ltd. Morland. Taking two months to construct, it has become the life and soul of engineer Tom Thwaites and six of his employees.

Towering over the local buildings at a staggering height of ten and a half metres, the body and arms of this huge structure are constructed of mild steel tube 114mm by 5mm and supported by sturdy legs measuring 168mm in diameter and 10mm thick, weighing a mighty four and three quarter tons. Viewed from nearby fields, it appears to grow from the local vegetation and was only bettered by Tom Thwaites himself as he put the finishing touches to the huge metal structure last week.

Brimstone Art Works, the delighted clients, met to review the massive structure on Thursday 9th September 2004.
